{"id":250,"date":"2017-02-05T22:26:31","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T04:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/krisp.ca\/mobile\/?p=250"},"modified":"2017-02-05T22:31:58","modified_gmt":"2017-02-06T04:31:58","slug":"bust-a-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krisp.ca\/mobile\/bust-a-move\/","title":{"rendered":"Bust a move."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, folks see Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, as uber successful. \ud83d\udcaf<\/p>\n<p>Not that long ago, that wasn&#8217;t the case.<\/p>\n<p>If you put Jeff&#8217;s story in reverse, even a little bit, you&#8217;ll see that Jeff Bezos wasn\u2019t always Jeff Bezos.<\/p>\n<p>Not that long ago, in the early days of Amazon, most people were thinking that Amazon would fail.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, most people were certain that Barnes &amp; Nobles would crash Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why so many told Jeff to go to Barnes &amp; Nobles and beg them to buy Amazon. In their minds, it was only a matter of time before Barnes &amp; Nobles wiped Amazon out.<\/p>\n<p>But because he knew a &#8216;secret,&#8217; Jeff didn&#8217;t listen to most people.<\/p>\n<p>We put the word &#8216;secret&#8217; in quotations because Jeff was happy to share it with anyone who was willing to listen. (Few did.)<\/p>\n<p>The secret?<\/p>\n<p>Jeff believed that corporate inertia (that is, a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged) can&#8217;t be underestimated.<\/p>\n<p>As long as he kept Amazon fast-moving, Jeff believed, Barnes and Nobles would hesitate.<\/p>\n<p>(BTW, the choice of his words shows you just how well-mannered and polite Jeff is, no? Because corporate inertia doesn&#8217;t just make established players hesitate. Corporate inertia makes established players lose their sense of direction. In a word: Lost.)<\/p>\n<p>So, Amazon kept on moving.<\/p>\n<p>Digitally, because folks were slowly but surely looking at screens more than at the world.<\/p>\n<p>And fast.<\/p>\n<p>How fast?<\/p>\n<p>At a speed more and more folks not only came to love, but expect as a basic utility in their lives, a utility like power or heat.<\/p>\n<p>Today, we all know that Jeff was right: Corporate inertia can&#8217;t be underestimated.<\/p>\n<p>Because of corporate inertia, Tesla and not GM makes the best automobile on Earth, Facebook and not the NY Times is the world&#8217;s front page (Facebook is so much more, of course), and Netflix and not Blockbuster is where you binge on movies and TV shows.<\/p>\n<p>Over to you.<\/p>\n<p>Is your business moving at the speed your customers love?<\/p>\n<p>For example, do you use texting as a customer service channel?<\/p>\n<p>If not, why not?<\/p>\n<p>If yes, do you and\/or your staff use your personal cell numbers?<\/p>\n<p>If yes, consider stopping that practice.<\/p>\n<p>Now.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, consider using a cloud-based system that scales.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll give you a few reasons why you should use a cloud-based texting system in a day or two.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, folks see Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, as uber successful. \ud83d\udcaf Not that long ago, that wasn&#8217;t the case.
