To know… scratch that.
To even get a glimpse at the mass mind is no small task.
As everyone here at krisp loves a good challenge, though, below is our 2¢ on some of the things that will matter in 2018.
Let’s start with a two-point summary of the 2018 trend report for the TLDR crowd:
1. ‘Show Me You Know Me.’
In 2018 and beyond, don’t fall in love with your service/product — fall in love with your customers. (Amazon and Facebook are worth infinitely more than, say, Twitter or Kmart, in part because they know so much about their customers.)
2. What are you optimizing your business for?
All the talk you’re hearing about algorithms makes most people forget that a business is an algorithm. And that you can choose what to optimize it for.
Profit used to be the only thing businesses used to be optimized for. That famous “We don’t care. We don’t have to. We’re the phone company” line the actress Lily Tomlin delivered in an SNL skit was funny because it rang true. (Pun intended.)
Folks, the “We don’t care. We don’t have to” ship has sailed. If you’re not already doing it, start optimizing your business for something folks care a lot about.
This is your exit, TLDR crowd — thanks! 👊
