Did we ever tell you that in founding krisp one of our ‘big hairy goals’ was the elimination of three cancer cells of traditional ad agencies?
As everyone’s pressed for time, today, let us tell you about one of those three and how one decision we made early on might help you in your business.
Instead of having a fixed staff that meets in one office, the krisp crew assembles in a non-traditional way: Digitally.
We do this to better serve you because a lot of talented people are freelancers scattered around the globe.
One of the challenges we had to address with the above setup was this: How do we manage people in a totally distributed company?
The solution: Manage agreements, not people.
While we do all that we can to be compassionate, and always seek to understand the feelings of others, we never try to manage those feelings.
Instead, we create and manage agreements with each other on an adult-to-adult basis. In our experience, this creates more accountability, respect, and open communication.
Agreements are two-sided and focused on results. A commitment to managing agreements is a commitment between professional adults to work and serve. Together. We’re all serving and nobody is being managed.
Listen, this is not magic, and every organization is different. We’ve tried different approaches, and managing agreements works for us so far.
Over to you: How do you feel about the idea of managing agreements, not people?
